Family is everything to Darci. She treasures being a mom to her daughter and son, considering them her greatest joy. Darci is blessed with amazing friends and family, a support system she cherishes deeply.
Her extensive experience with non-profits, including the American Cancer Society and Whaley Children's Center, drew her to Serenity House. Witnessing the tangible help provided daily, from rides to peer recovery counseling, inspired her to join our team.
Having faced significant loss in the past six years, including her father, sister, and mother, Darci's personal recovery journey fuels her passion for aiding others. She feels honored and excited to be part of Serenity House, and we are thrilled to have her with us.

Rosana, 45, is a proud mother of two grown sons and a loving grandmother and aunt. Her grandbaby and nephew mean the world to her. She has been on a recovery journey from alcohol for four years, walking that path alongside her supportive partner. In August 2024, Rosana joined the Serenity House Communities team as a Peer Recovery Coach and a driver for the transportation program.
Rosana finds deep fulfillment in her work at Serenity House, where she continues to heal herself while supporting participants on their own recovery journeys. She’s grateful for the incredible people she’s met and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in their lives. She describes the Serenity House team as amazing, caring, supportive, and united in their mission to help one another and the community.
Rosana also credits holistic healing as a powerful part of her recovery, both within Serenity House and in her personal life. She feels truly blessed to be part of a team that reflects the vision and passion of its founder, Tara, and to contribute to the life-changing work Serenity House is doing in the community.
Serenity House Communities (SHC) is a Recovery Community Organization founded in 2015 by Tara Moreno-Wallen as a Substance Use Disorder Prevention & Recovery Support Service. SHC provides substance use and co-occurring disorders support for men & women in Lapeer & Genesee counties. Services are conducted utilizing a Community Resiliency model that meets participants in their current stage of change and empowers them towards a path of recovery. SHC provides a wide spectrum of services including advocacy and educational events, recovery coaching and recovery support groups to reduce stigma. The organization specializes in the delivery of holistic medicine approaches that range from Recovery Reiki to Yoga & Acupuncture.
SHC is committed to promoting change and awareness; reducing stigma and shame by providing a better understanding of recovery. All services and projects conducted by SHC take place in a strategic planning framework that includes attention to assessing the needs of our participants; assessing and building capacity for the benefit of our participants, researching and applying evidence-based and culturally accepted healing approaches and using outcome and evaluation to drive services, as evidenced by the results of our data collection and analysis.
SHC is aware of cultural diversity and provides cultural competency awareness that helps those who are affiliated with SHC to effectively operate within different cultural contexts with sensitivity toward members of other ethnic or cultural groups.
This program aligns with Tier III Priorities by creating a Recovery Community Organization (RCO) that will be a community coalition created for the purposes of effecting change in targeted areas including: stigma reduction, increase community awareness about addiction and recovery, establish a “home” for the recovering community, and to provide community trainings and awareness events. This project is part of a growing trend to establish RCO’s across the country. The formation of a Recovery Community Organization also supports peer development, within a Recovery Oriented System of Care framework.
